Here are some pictures from my phone of a few things I’ve done at work.

I didn’t do the writing. That was Tammy

Everything was done in buttercream.

Snow Day!!

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Forecast = 6″-8″ snow. 7:30am until 10pm tonight. Whiteout conditions.

No School.

Home again.

Monday, January 14th, 2008

We made it home Sunday night, January 6th.

Finally.

Adventures were not over however, as we soon discovered something had happened inside the mini fridge.

It was just like that when I noticed. The door wide open, brownness all in the bottom. Nothing on the carpet though. I soon discovered that the brown was soda.

At some point, these two cans had burst themselves open.

Note how they are nearly perfectly clean inside. The slice down the side is almost perfect too. It’s a mystery what happened. We are thinking maybe the fridge got too cold then warmed up and the expansion made the cans explode.

Pit stop at the Awakening

Monday, January 14th, 2008

We didn’t have very much time to hang around in D.C. with my aunt. We had about enough time to get the driving tour of the major monuments and such and a stop at the Awakening.

He’s a big fella!

Note the people in the distance he is eyeballing, and the spit up corpses not to far away.

AHHHHH!!! HE’S TRYING TO EAT MEEEEEE!!!

It’s ok. I managed to escape.

AHHHH!!! He’s trying to grab me again!!!

Ok. It’s safer by his foot.

Ewwww look at those toenails! EWWW

Although, I suppose it’s difficult to find proper toenail clippers when your toenails are made of some form of metal

Kennedy Space Center (NASA! NASA!)

Monday, January 14th, 2008

Ok, so, on Thursday, January 3rd we went to Kennedy Space Center.

You know, where these things live:

It was chilly while we waited in line for tickets. Then it was cramped while we waiting to put the ticket through the turnstile thing and wait in a clump to go through the metal detector and then have our cameras and phones inspected. Blarg.

Once we got out of there, the first thing we did was go see a movie.

We saw the one about the moon narrated by Tom Hanks. I’ve seen the one narrated by Tom Cruise. We didn’t need to see that. Hanks is better than crazyface.

After that, we went and had lunch at MILA’s. An astronaut came in and flirted with a waitress for a soda. His name was Story.

Then we went over to the thing where you could go inside the Explorer. Just like that one in the first picture.

Inside, there was a creepy space man.

We wandered over to a little movie about finding life on Mars and such. The ending was such a cliffhanger!!

Then we went to a thing about NASA and wildlife.
I took several pictures.

I like this picture. It’s a tree.

Who likes the little little duckies in the pond?

This bird has awesome hair

So cuddly!! Can I have one?

These are obviously not living creatures. D’oh.

Then we went to something about Robots and how they will colonize  Mars for us. I missed out on pictures.
After that was the Rocket Garden.

Will someone PLEASE tell me where to find rocket seeds?

This one is like a giant electric Q-tip

This is what it would look like if you were getting on a spaceship.

We also went to a place that had all sorts of stuff about the past technology and such.

This is what your livingroom would look like if it was made in the 60’s. It’s called a “T.V. room”

Ed was looking for the monkey.

We went to the gift shop.

I got a couple tektites

I also got a meteorite and space food. And a pen that can write upsidedown in water!

Ed was happy. He got a spaceship drink

I took lots of silly pictures as we were leaving. they are mostly blurry.  Every time I took a picture, I would say NASA! Ed told me to stop.

NASA!

The Birds: Checker’s Encounter

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

We went for lunch after the orchid gardens. There were lots of birds hanging out there. We ate in the car. I couldn’t resist the urge to toss them a fry. Antics ensued.

This is DirtyBeak. He kept coming back to the windshield. He had a dirty beak.

There was also a big white bird that at first would allow you to hit it in the head with a fry and it would just stand there. Later he walked around to my side of the car and I tossed him a fry. He worked it back and forth in his beak, squishing out the potato before finally turning it around and eating it.

American Orchid Society Orchid Garden

Wednesday, January 2nd, 2008

Went to the American Orchid Society’s Orchid Gardens in Delray Beach, Fla. (Aerial)

$8 to get in. 2 hour drive from Palm Bay.

Florida is experiencing a cold snap, so some of the flowers that were outside were bagged

There were also some little lizards running around. Sometimes when they rustled leaves, you thought there was a much larger creature lurking.

There was a secret walkway to the sawhoss stable. We snuck a peak. Shhhh….

Inside the greenhouse were several lovely orchids. Here are the highlights, click here for the complete list of photos.

On the way home we stopped for gas right next door to a Tropicana plant.

Thats a truck full of loose oranges. Crazy
